I plan to buy a fl-18 this fall also. I've used a fl-8 for 10 years and loved it until I used an 18.

You could save yourself $20 if you went with the 12 degree transducer, which is a good all-around ducer. That's what I plan to get. You really don't need the dual transducer unless you plan to fish very shallow or very deep, and even then it doesn't add a big advantage-- plus the dual transducer has a larger diameter which can get a little bulky in a small hole. Whichever one you go with, you won't be disappointed. They're awsome.

reedssports has the fl-18 for 419 plus free shipping----and you won't have to pay tax if you have it shipped out of minnesota.

ps. email me and I can direct you to a site where you can get a reconditiononed 18 for $359. 12 degree ducer and 2 year warranty.

I got my Fl-18 at Cabelas for $389 last fall it came with a battery, charger and a soft pack and 12 degree tdcr. Depends on the fishing you plan on doing if you want the 8 or the 18. I fish at Mille Lacs quite a bit in the winter and I really like the zoom feature where you can put your bait right on the nose of the Walleye or perch. If you are fishing for crappies or suspended fish you probably don't need the 18 but if you are spending $300 anyway you might as well spend $400 and get the 18.

Don't be fooled, there are major differences between the fl-8 and 18. Spend the extra money on the FL-18 you will be glad you did. Sometimes small bait shops are the best place to get deals on them. I bought both mine from one. You can't pay the bills with equipment sitting on the shelf. So, if you find someone who has one left from last year, they may be willing to move it.Scott Steil
