Same story Deitz. I am heading over myself. Been out in other boats, but this will be the first time this year in mine. Real Sad!!! Getting the bass itch. I usually do the Wisc. opener w/my usual fishing buddy, but he informed me that he's pretty much shut down this year. So I will have an open seat a lot this year! In fact Tommorrow is open. Anyone interested, let me know. I am thinking of going early. It's a lot more fun fish w/somebody else. Used to like it by myself, I think more to get away from the exwife, than anything else. Good luck to all! Be safe.

Hey Deitz, I'm hosting a bass tournament through the ABA on Tainter Lake near Menominie if you're interested in traveling that far to fish. I'm not sure if you're into the tournament scene.

Fishing was pretty good today, numbers wise. Caught around 20 fish but only 7 were over 14 inches. I caught them in 5FOW or shallower. Spinnerbaits were the ticket in the pads, but there were so many short stikes in the morning it was unbelievable. If I got them they were most often hooked on the trailer hook. I also found a lot of fish on the inside weed lines. I caught these fish on a spinnerbait and a senko. Senko worked better in these areas compared to a spinnerbait. I fished it on 8lb floro.

hey bob i heard of a guy once getting lots of short swipers on a buzzer once and he put a trailer hook on his trailer hook. i have never been in a situation that dictated that but i thought i would just throw that out there for you to put in your arsonal. (Why am i telling you this you beat me last year on forest!!!!!)

Any way good job on the finish. ike

Ike,

I was contemplating doing that yesterday, but never did. It was a weird situatuion. I'm not sure if the short strikes were just because the fish were too small in that area(only caught 2 over 14 inches in the pads out of about 10) or if the fish were just nipping the bait becasue they were gaurding nests.. Even more I could have been using the wrong bait, maybe switching would have yielded more hook ups. I eventually moved out of the pads to the inside weedline and caught a few more on the spinnerbait over 14 inches that absolutely hammered it, so I don't know what was going on in the morning, but those are my theories.

Also there were an unbeleivable amount of crappies spawing as well as sunnies which had me confused. I thought crappies spawned early and sunnies later? So this had me confused on what stage of the spawn the bass were in. I saw a lot of empty beds, and a few with bass on them. I talked to a guy at the launch who lives on the lake who mainly fishes bass, and he's been catching the bigger females out deep where theres some getting ready to move up to spawn or others that are recouperating out there from the spawn. Water temps were 60-63 degrees...

i was out there 2 fridays ago and there was a lot of males guarding beds and i saw 2 pairs in the act. i did see a couple of females recouping shallow, but they wouldn't look at anything. usually right before they spawn there is a lot of females cruising in the shallows, but i didn't see any that day only the ones recouping.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
