Richmond chain of lakes

I might try one of these tourny's for bass. It's a company (my employer) one on the Richmond chain of lakes. The DNR netting shows low amounts of bass. Is the fishing decent or is the search tough on the lakes?? Not looking for "secret spot's", but what, if any, types of locations are good?? Typical bass hang outs?? Unconventional spots?? I've never even fished this part of the state before, much less these lakes. Any pointers to get me in the right direction would be most helpful. I'm not out to win, I don't care about that, I would just like to participate by bringing something in to the scale. BTW, it will be a half day event in the morning. TIA.

the lakes usually fish shallow like docks and slop and such. there is some smallies in horshoe. if your there early there is all kinds of cuts and bays through out the chain. usually not many weeds.
