Guest
Hi Everyone,I'm planning to build an ice shack for next season and I'm looking for a little help. My plan is to make it 8'x10' or 8'x12'. My dilemma is how to frame it up. I want it to be sturdy enough to drag around, yet light. Also, I want the floor to be as close to the ice as possible.Any advice is appreciated! Guest
Jig'm up,Keepin the floor as close to the ice is not always a great idea. You will want to block the shack up to keep it from freezin in. I would consider going with 2x6 skids. As far as the frame goes you can get away with 2x2's. Just make sure you put your hook up for your strap along the base.Good Luck.Ukes
cmpeterson1
Build the floor strong, 2-4 with4-6 runners. As for the walls 2-2s,when you have it framed up,take 1"banding and x each wall.By making a x,start at front wall at the top 2 studs in,drill small hole then drive galv.deck screw in at each stud til your at the bottom of the back wall.Repeat on all 4 walls. You should an x on all 4 when done.REAL STRONG !!!!Call Radco toppers in Brainerd, they sell reject sheets of alm.
