Pike/Musky Fishing Near Fergus Falls

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know of a good lake for Northern or Musky fishing near Fergus Falls?

I am planning a trip with my two boys around the "Opener" and would like to put them on some toothy critters.

Thanks for the help.......

There are lots of good lakes in the area for Northerns. Clitheral, Ottertail, Buchanan, Pelican, Big Detroit all have a pretty good populations in them and there is alot more that I have not mentioned. Having lived on Ottertail for 7 years, I would have to say that it is the best lake for size. I would join all the walleye guys on the edges of Balmoral hole and look for weed beds, it will probably have the biggest concentration of fish right now. We have also caught some nice fish in Waker lake too and it is a good option if it is too windy for OT in fact it is a good option anyway because it is very easy to fish. I like Clitherall alot and you should be able to find some nice fish back in the shallows of the southwest bay.

As you can see, I fish mostly east of Fergus, RK might have some suggestions for North of Fergus.

also, Muskie season doesn't open till June 2, but the lakes in the area are, West Battle, Pelican, Big Detroit, Beers, Malissa, Sallie.

I hope this helps,

any questions let me know and I will try to help,

John
