A Bait Question

1. No

2. Mooneyes? Thats a good question. When I'm fishing the Minnesota or Mississippi, 80% of the time I'm using live baits for flatheads. The other 20% will be for channel cats and I'll just stick with suckers or shad since they are convenient for me to get. So... I've never really tried to target them down here.

Goldeyes on the other hand, are found most commonly in the Red River and its tributaries on the ND/MN border. Sometimes they are so easy to catch, other times they are tough to find. Last trip up there, we must have caught 30 in about 1/2 hour fishing crawlers on the bottom in about 7-8' of water, real slow moving water on the outside of a slight bend. You better believe we kept every one of them. This year, I plan to vacuum seal my fresh caught bait to use later in the year or when I don't have time to catch new bait.
