Nuts poisonous to dogs?

A fella told me he heard something on the Field & Stream radio program about certain nuts being poisonous to dogs. Anybody know about this? I've watched hounds eat acorns, and bird dogs eat walnuts and labs eat peanuts and to my reccolection I haven't seen ONE of them fall over dead. Is this just more of F&S's goofiness or hype?
