bullhead temp?

was thinking about getting out to try some pond action very soon. thought i would check around some of my bullhead ponds to prepare for the season. at what water temp. do the little guys start to play? i thought i heard somewhere once it gets to right around 50 degrees is a good time to start targeting them. is this pretty accurate?

I caught about 40 of them a few weeks ago on that 80 degree day from shore.
