channels in lakes

hey guys, tried to do some searching on here but couldnt really find anything, so i thought i'd ask. when targeting channels in lakes, are there things you do different and what do you look for, cover, holes?

As the water warms, we look for them along shorelines near potential spawning sites. After the spawn, they can be anywhere. We usually fish for them under slipfloats looking for suspended fish. It is also worthwhile to check out weedbeds.

My best friend and i wer asking the samething last summer we tried to find them in the holes but didnt but i looked around the shore line and found a spot that not to many people fished by the look there was a good run off water spot i set up right there with fake worms soaked in anise and we have slaughtered them ever since, hope it helps, any other good techniques? tell me anything i cant wait to get out there cat fishing is amazing
