With tick season just around the corner I remember a post some time ago about buying the largest size of Frontline and splitting the package up an only give the required dose for the weight of your dog. Somebody had a formula figured out for how many cc's or mls per pound of dog. I've looke in the archieves but couldn't find it. Anybody rember what the deal was?

Well I did some digging and found what I was looking for. We had ticks last week before the snow and cold. Just a heads up

Frontline offers 4 sizes…….Up to 22lbs, 23-44lbs,45-88lbs, and 89-132lbs. Each size is pre-measured at .67cc, 1.34cc, 2.68cc, and 4.02cc according to the above weights of your dog. The only way you can save money is buying the largest size for 89-132lb at 4.02cc.

Frontline is dosed at exactly .1675cc per 5.5 lbs of dog weight. So if you buy the pre-measured dose according to your dogs weight of say 60lbs you would be using 2.6cc of Frontline when you really only need 1.8cc. Instead of doing this if you bought the largest size at 4.02cc you could treat a 60lb dog twice. What I do is use a syringe and poke it through the foil back of the container and suck up 2.0 cc and then seal the hole with a small dab of silicone. This way I get two doses per container which works out to almost half price. If you shop around on the net you can find Frontline quite a bit cheaper than your vet. Try it out. I’ve broke it down a little for a 60 lb dog just for example.

60# Dog

6 pkg. 45-88lb dog (2.6cc each) $ 71.00 (on-line) $11.83 (6 doses@ 2.6cc)

6pkg. 89-132lb dog (4.02cc each) $ 72.99 (on-line) $ 6.08 (12doses @ 2.0cc)

For other weight dogs just use .1675cc per 5.5lbs of weight.

40lbs 1.2cc

50lbs 1.5cc

60lbs 1.8cc

70lbs 2.1cc

80lbs 2.4cc
