Frabill's "Small Mesh" & Rusty

Catmendo

Recommended Posts

Hey Rusty....how's that Frabill performing for you?
Question: As long as you'll remain a catman,
"would you ever revert back to a conventional style net again?" If not tell me why! I know the reasons, I only want you to share them with "all" the other cat hunters out there!
Back in March when I did the seminar for the R.R.V.C.C; I put a lot of emphasis on that net but for good sound reason......it simply makes landing and handling catfish (and other species) so much easier and efficient, so why wouldn't I want to share this with those who have a passion for angling!
By the way, Frabill is currently working on a "NEW" prototype catfish net. I hope to get my hands on one in the near future in order to "put it through it's paces" here on the Red! Once we've had the opportunity to field-test it I'll post my findings on this thread as well as others.
The river's still on the rise which in turn is continuing to keep those big kitties chomping! This is turning out to be one the most productive season's on record!

Well I tell you what, That is the only net I take out any more.. The other nets just hang on the wall... I got our local bait shop ordering some now too... Many of the Catters around here are trying to get their hands on one too..

I would like to get another one just a small one for Eyes and such.. that net is the bomb.

I never have a tangle any more.. with the exception of a nook now and then.. but that is it... and that will happen with any net.

Stu.. how did them pics I sent up for ya turn out? did they use them?

Rusty........it was a loaded question and your reply is one that I expected! The bottom line is "incredibly simply", fish with one of Frabill's small mesh and "all" others become obsolete, end of story!
As a professional guide (with more than twenty full-time years experience)I feel obligated to share with others who are interested in learning about products that will make their time out on the water more productive and enjoyable! I feel so strongly towards the design and performance of these nets I'm confident those that try them will quickly come too terms as to the advantages this product offers. One thing you can count on Rusty.....Stu Mckay will "never" endoarse or promote a product unless I have tried, tested and found it true.....it's that simple!
Frabill products meets or exceeds "all" my expectations, they truly are "tried, tested & true"!

By the way, the MAYHEM continues up here!

I'll add to the list of Frabill fans for this net system Stu is talking about. It is a winner.Very durable and easy to work with, and easy on the fish. Far less tangles due to tackle winding up in the mesh. A big thumbs up for this unit...Eh!

Thanks Ed.....as you know, take this net for a test drive once and it's an automatic sale! If I have any regrets, I would have to say that I wish I had access to this product twenty plus years ago! Like the old cliche goes, "better late than never" (I guess).
Frabill calls this product their Catch & Release net (product #3471). Suggested retail is in the neighborhood of $70.00 and most dealers can gain access to them thru their local distributor!
Speaking of nets, fish and all that kind of stuff backwater, "when are you and "little" Shannon heading back up here", those kitties are tearing up tackle like there's no tomorrow! Yes we're having tons of success cork'n over in the spillway!

I too strongly agree, I purchased one last year after Stu's appraisal of the net, my big Beckman Net now just hangs in my garage. Hard to come by here in Walker Minnesota, had to order it special, it is great! Did put a small hole in it last fall, but that was probaably due to 100 ferocious cats and carelessness by us stepping on it a few times! You can order replacement netting

You're absolutely right on the money Shef, you can simply order a new mesh if and when the original one becomes excessively worn. My guides, who handle countless thousands of "big" kitties every year have to replace the mesh at the begining of each new season. The cost of doing this could best be desrcibed as "nickle & dime"!
I will honestly say that you couldn't pay any of my guides to revert back to a conventional mesh.....in comparison, that would be like installing stone wheels on ones vehicle!!!
The Red's still slowly rising and needless to say that those summo's are put'n a hurt'n on everyones gear!

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
