Catching Rainbows?

I am interested in trying for some Rainbow trout and looking for a few pointers. I have heard that you can catch them right below the ice, is that in the shallows or below ice over 10 fow or more? For lures and bait do you use waxies mostly on jig? thanks for info.

I fish them all over the water column but mostly right under the ice in anywhere from 4 to 100 ft of water. Use the search feature this topic has been brought up a ton.

WE had some luck fishing rainbows a couple of weeks ago in northern, MN. We were fishing 4ft below the ice in approx 10 ft of water. Our main bait was wigglers (mayfly larvae)on plain hook although we picked a few up on a plain sweedish pimple as well.
