The "Original" Bucktail

I was reading an article in the Fish/Fur magazine and came across an article about how the original bucktail was made and used. During the depression, they used a deer tail, skinned out the tailbone, let it dry, then used a wire leader with single hooks attached and bam, they had their bucktail. They also gave a short "How to do" segment and it seemed to be pretty easy. Has anyone done this or made their own. I'd be interested in looking into this more as the presentation would be much different than the spinner bucktails we have today.
