I would also like to see more close-up pictures of drop down axle designs that FM'ers may have welded up themselves.

I would think that actual plans would not be given up here, since those plans are what differentiates commercial makers/sellers of drop down frames/shacks from regular commodity trailers... :-) I've gone looking, and I cannot find any source for plans to build drop down axles.

Nothing says you couldn't go shop drop downs and copy those designs from memory - I wouldn't take a camera tho, that would be too obvious. :-) Or maybe wait until the drop downs are on the lake, and go "sight seeing" with the camera. :-)

You can also find pictures on the web and here of drop down mechanisms. Kylersk posted some recently of his own rig, and there is a thread with lots of pictures of FM'ers shacks.

I disagree. A couple of years ago before I built my first drop down, I took a camera to every fish house supplier I could find, even to the ice fishing show and snapped up nearly a hundred shots before I was done. I never ran into a problem with salesmen or manufacturers telling me that I couldn't. All of them were happy to help and answer any questions I had.

Go ahead, take the camera. If you don't, you'll surely regret it. Remember, I picture is worth a thousand words. When trying to copy someone elses idea, it's priceless!

One last thing. After you take your pictures, you'll go home and load them up. 100% of the time, you'll wish that you would have taken more one a certain thing and at different angles. So, take pictures from every angle and distance possible. Be sure to get the full size view and a closeup of each part before moving on. Use up the memory card, you won't regret that!
