Water Clarity Definition

I primarily fish in Otter Tail county in Minnesota. The sechi reading on the lakes I fish range from 6.7 - 17.9 and water clarity readings from 6.5 - 13.6. My question is what range qualifies as "stained" water? Any help in answering this question would be greatly appreciated.

I think each person willhave a different deffinition... I would think any lake with a seechi disk reading of 6 would be considered stained... any lake with a seechi at 10 or above I would call clear for sure.

I did a search online and found this information.. not sure how official it is or not.

Oligotrophic(clear) -- Greater than 16 feet.

Mesotrophic(stained) -- 6.5 to 16 feet.

Eutrophic(murky) -- Less than 6.5 feet.
