Tires on Ice

Meadow Creek

Recommended Posts

Now is this on an atv or your vehicle? On an atv the tire compound is much softer than on a vehicle tread and I would think that spinning the tires excessivly on the ice will wear them down. Chains would reduce this and also give you better traction and steering control. For your vehicle unless you are doing a lot of driving on the ice or spinning a lot I think that the tires shouldnt wear any faster than normal.

Are they really soft compound - like a snow tire, agressive off-road, or mud tire? Those type tend to wear fast anyway.

I'd think it would be easy to tell if it's from getting stuck/spinning out. If there is a bunch of black stuff on the snow/ice where you were stuck then that's probably it.
