Hi BASSHUNTER
I assume that you are after channel cats.Chicken liver should work.I wouldn't slice it though, the membrane is what holds the bait together.I put the hook through it several times by just wrapping it around as many times as possible without ripping the membrane. When it gets a little whiteish, time for a new piece.
You should also try some cut bait.Cut some large suckers into 1"chunks or if you get some really big suckers just fillet them and use 1"x1" pieces.Or you can break off the heads of medium sized suckers and use the tails.Last weekend a guy doing this out fished everyone. In most cases you will get larger fish with cut bait.
If you want a chance at a flathead try some large live bait.I have caught a few and heard of many guys catching some flatheads while walleye fishing with crawlers this spring. So putting a gob of crawlers on the hook may also be productive. At any rate you will catch a lot of fish on the crawlers but they may not be exactly what your after. Its always fun to reel in fish though!
