Hunting Areas around the metro.

Recommended Posts

Looking for some ideas from you guys of where to do some weekend morning hunting, pass or out of a boat. Looking at a 60 mile radius around the North Metro.

I’m not looking for anyone’s secret spot, just a place to get out a few more times during the season with my brother in law.

Please reply to this post or email me @ [email protected]

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jay

Well shooter26 it looks like no one has given you a hint so here it is and this aint no secret but later in the year this lake is ok to hunt not too many people out it is called Pelican Lake just south of Monticello, it is an excellant waterfowl habitat lake the DNR has an access on the northwest end most of it is probably froze by now, early in the year I wouldnt even bother, many years ago when I was new to the area I went scouting to see where people go hunting, I usually scout on opening weekend because there is allways too many hunters out but that way I can see where people hunt, anyway when I went there on that opener I counted about 70 rigs around the main landing but later in the year especially after deer opener you might be the only one to four parties out there, good luck.

Shooter,

no one really likes to answer these, but I will. Diamond lake in Dayton is a OK spot. You will need a boat, can be very busy sometimes. There some good spots down by lakeville and jorden. WMA's down there, you find them on the DNR web site under rec. compass. Also, car load avery is ok but busy. There is a wma out in french lake township. It's near buffalo. I used to hunt it, no one is ever there. pretty good spot. also can find it on the dnr's web site. there are also a few lakes in north anoka and some by wiconia that are pretty good also. finally, crooked (creek, road river ?) wma just outside of st. franis is good, but can be very busy. good luck
