Elmo/Big Arm bay on Flathead Lake

WOW, the perch bite is ON on the Flathead! We spent 3 hours Saturday 10-14 in Elmo Bay and caught well over 100 perch between the two of us. The guys in a boat next to us had over 175 after about 3 PM!!! (There is no perch limit in MT) We caught a few jumbo's in the 12-14 OZ range but most were in that 7-9 inch range. If we had moved around at all we probably could have found the bigger ones a little more consistantly...

But when youre havin fun youre havin fun. We ended up cleaning about 75 fish, and our sustem allows 2 guys to get a clean fillet in less than a minute per fish so it was well worth it even with some of the smaller ones.

Look in 30-40 feet of water and you should see a few whitefish too. If you are getting too many whities then you are fishing over the smaller perch and you should move. This bite has lasted longer than usual this year and still probably has a week or two left. Hopefully, with the big game opener next weekend...I'll have the lake to myself!!!
