crockpot venison

Recommended Posts

If your roast is about 1-2 lbs. use
1 can cream of mushroom soup and 1 envelope of dry, onion soup mix. Let it cook all day 6-8 hrs and it should just fall apart for you. This method will leave a little gravy so I recomend getting some envelopes of that too if you enjoy your gravy and mix it separately. It can be added to the meat after it is mixed or you can just keep it on the side. If you crockpot a venison roast you will have starving college kids swarming around your door. My advice, feed a little to some girls before you tell them it's venison. I did it to some snooty sorority girls once and then popped the secret when they were smacking their chops. They got pi55ed and I laughed. Don't forget who you are, sometimes it isn't popular to stuff yourself on a good venison roast in college. Good luck

Hey Freighttrain,

Skip down a few topics on the Sharing Recipes page. BLACKJACK had the same ? awhile back. There are some good ones there (including my own).

As far as what abens1078 is saying...I do the same thing here at work. I work at a school, and as you can imagine, there are quite a few who POO-POO hunting, venison, etc. At staff potlucks I make my venison crockpot meal and they always want more. I usually don't tell most of them, however. I'm saving it until I can really use it someday. grin.gif

Sounds weird, but try it!!
3-4 lb venison, or beef chuck roast
lots of garlic sliced
1 cup ketsup
1 cup dark beer
onions, mushrooms
gravy thickener.

Tie the roast, make slits all over, add the garlic slivers in the holes.
Brown on all sides(I like to throw it on the grill) , and stick in the crocker. Mix ketsup and beer in equal parts well.
then pour over the roast and onions.
Let it cook for most of the day, add the mushrooms, let it cook about 30 min longer.
Take the roast out, "pull" it apart, thicken up the gravy and stick back in the crocker.
Ya, Baby!!!
