Advice on Lake Independence?

Recommended Posts

No advice, but a question, can you even get on it? The main ramp was closed for this week for construction. Another one a little north of it has no place to park (residential with no parking signs everywhere).

Fish the island to the on the deep side all the way down to the bullrush island. Behind the bullrushes there is a rock pile that extends back to the shore, you'll want to cast that. Then, it's a good idea to fish that back side of the bullrushes back to the island all the way to where the channel frms on that backside.

Honestly, you can cast the whole south side of that lake, but the hign bank point that extends out from the first point past the public landing all the way down to the west end of the beach where the wall ends is a good run as well.

That lake is small enough where you can cast the whole thing. Get a map an look for the fishy spots and that's where the are.

The last couple of summers my buddies and I have seen and/or boated fish throughout the lake so don't be afraid to simply cover water although I would focus on areas where there are green weeds as opposed to brown. Trolling the weedline can be good, too.

The one thing about Indy is that if you don't move a fish in the first hour I would plan on it being a slow day. Don't know why, but if it starts out slow it seems to stay that way.

As for lures this time of year I like bucktails, big spinnerbaits, phantoms, and bulldawgs.
