Trouthunter
Going to sod my yard next week. Anyone have any tips for a 1st timer? Practical advice is more appreciated than short-cuts! Thanks in advance
LABS4ME
Keep all the seams tight, make sure each pad is snugged up to the next. Lay it on a check pattern to minimize the seams lining up. Water it hard the 1st 2 days and back off gradually over the next 7-10 days... make the roots chase the moisture. Water it too hard and too long, will only create shallow weak roots. Fertilize it after 3-4 weeks with a good starter fertilizer. Mow it once it roots, but do not mow it down all at once. Gradually bring the height down over 2-3 mowings. DO NOT walk on the lawn for at least 2 weeks as the foot prints you leave behind will make the lawn 'lumpy'. Have fun putting in your new lawn! Good Luck!
