I have a Jiffy 9" model 30, it hasnt been used to often its only 2 1/2 yrs old. i usually go with another buddy and we usually use his, but last spring i did use mine and it was not working properly, it was spinning even when i didnt have my hand on the throttle, and also it wanted to kill quite easily. My question is any idea's of what the problem is, and do any of you guys know someone around the St. Cloud area that fixes Augers. I want to do it before the time is too late.

Thanks Guys.

Mr. Hill,

I fix small engines as a side income and have repaired hundreds of augers so I would think my reply is as good as any.

Sounds like carb problems to me. If you have a parially plug jet it will run lean and produce the problems you are describing. Also old gas will create these problems and if it doesn't get used much is very likly.

The high idle is just a simple adjustment.

You can take it to any small engine shop and they should be able to make the necessary repairs and adjustments. Joles Mower Service comes to mind but I do not know if they will do ice augers. It is worth a shot. 320-251-8966

Before you take it in though I would do the following:

1) dump out the old fuel and replace it with good new gas

2) change the spark plug, sometimes that is enough in it's self

3) there is a small screw on the throttle linkage that controls how far the throttle closes when it should be idling. Slowly turn that screw in either direction untill the desired idle speed is achieved.

If you are not comfortable working on engines and this is all greek to you just take it in to get repaired.
