My buddy and I are thinking about heading out this weekend to fish soem cats near Dayton / Elk River.

We drounded some crawlers for a few minutes a week ago and came up with only some smallies and 5lb Red Horse.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Bait? Location (general)? Setup? Thanks.

Oh yea we might eb doing this from a canoe... Should be fun if we can hook into one. tongue.gif

I have been cating around that area. I was doing real well about a month ago fishing in shallow rapids at night with crawlers, cutbait[redhorse] and live frogs. Went out last tuesday and only got one. I think the fish have moved into deeper holes. I would look for some deeper holes with good current flowing through. These areas might be difficult to fish in a canoe. Fish at night.

I typically use a 1-2oz weight with a swivel and about a 2ft leader.

Good Luck!
