Houston, MN resident and artist Michael Sieve will be on board. Michael’s artwork was selected as the first MDHA sponsor print back in 1984. His passion and pursuit of the whitetail deer is echoed in every painting featuring our nation’s most sought after big game species. His talents and knowledge of all wildlife make him one of America’s Most Popular Wildlife Artists. From the African Plains to the coastal habitat of Alaska, Mike paints wildlife in their natural setting and almost always has a message or story in every painting.

Freeport, MN resident and artist Scot Storm will be no board. Winning the Federal Duck Stamp in 2004 has been great for sportsmen and wildlife art collectors as Scot Storm’s artwork has been placed on the national stage where it has always belonged. Wildlife and Wildlife Organizations such as Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, National Wild Turkey Federation and countless others have raised thousands for habitat restoration, research and education with Scot’s artwork. On board will be some of his new originals and releases.

Hastings, MN residents and artists Karen, Rebecca and Bonnie Latham will be on board. The transformation of these talented artist’s carriers has been exponential in recent years. Recent successes and notoriety are: top ten finishes in the Federal Duck Stamp, MN Turkey Stamp, MN DU Sponsor print artists and more.

Victoria, MN resident and artist Kevin Daniel will be on board debuting original paintings that cover the genres of wildlife to figurative artwork. Kevin is one of the most licensed artists in America with his artwork featured on a variety of collectibles through the Danbury Mint along with his limited edition print art sold throughout the world.

Victoria, MN resident and artist Terrence Fogarty will be on board debuting his newest original oil paintings. Terry is best known for his work done with the Minnesota Twins, University of Minnesota’s Men’s Hockey, Football and Basketball artwork along with his work with USA Hockey and the Minnesota High school League’s tournament program cover artwork.

Chaska, MN resident and artist Jim Hansel will be on board debuting new paintings. Jim’s artwork focuses on the combination of birds and animals in their natural setting. His images tell a story or conjure up memories from a simpler time when being a sportsman was a lifestyle as well as a hobby. What makes Jim’s artwork more amazing is that he isn’t able to enjoy his own creations as we are as he is legally blind never sees the finished painting in its entirety.

Delano, MN resident and artist Dan Metz will be on board. “An Artist’s Artist”, Dan Metz is well known for his oil paintings and he is recognized Master of the pencil, conte, and scratchboard mediums. Fine Draftsmanship and design, along with a thorough knowledge of his subjects, are the hallmarks of his work.

Rogers, MN resident and artists Ken Zylla will be on board. Ken’s artwork captures nostalgic images of a way of life falling by the wayside. Old automotive bone yards, vintage cars, auctions, farming, heavy equipment mechanics and more are the subjects of Ken’s paintings. Ken’s professional artistic journey has spanned 5 decades and his staying power is testament to his skill in choosing subject matter and the talent to create it on canvas. Ken will be showing some of his recent completed original paintings and some gems from the past.

    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
    • We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor,  wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will want for this boat?  Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke  Mariner motor)  I will appreciate any help with these questions.
