Trailer light wiring

A couple tips for all:

1) Use a good quality light. You dont want to constantly be fixing or replacing them. You get what you pay for.

2) Don't ground the white wire to the tongue, use a ground wire all the way to the lights. Using the trailer for a common ground works but later you will regret it when the connections corrode. I buy the wire that has a continuios run of white wire and tap off that at each light. Its little more work but well worth it in the long run. Yo can get that wire in 100 ft rolls at any auto parts store for about $20.00.

3) Make an access panel to the lights on the back wall of your shanty. You can do this right away and make it nice and intentional or you can hack a hole in your wall later it is up to you.

4) Check DOT laws for the proper lighting. There is very specific lighting guidance from DOT on what a trailer is required to have for lights. Alll available on the net.

I hope I am not the only guy out there who is eagerly awaiting 10-12" of ice in July.

Good luck and be safe,

10 to 12 inches of Ice. I am hoping that aliens land in Minnesota and bring a bacteria that forms a wax like substance when the temp goes over 75 degrees. That way we could use a golf cart to fish and we could drill holes would be easy. I can't wait for the ice.
