Ihateriversnags
What's the proper way to mount transducers on a fiberglass hull? Pretty simple and straight to the point eh?
Deitz Dittrich
for bass boats, I typically go with the shoot through hull... sand down the area you are going to stick it and epoxy it in.
Whoaru99
Just be sure you have as few air bubbles in the "glue" as possible. Air bubbles reduce the efficiency/sensitivity of the sonar.
Fishin4Life
Do they work just as good through the hull? Can you do the same type of mount with an aluminum boat?
Ihateriversnags
The problem I have deitz is that there is some epoxy on the through the hull transducers that are on there now and i'm not sure how to get them off. The last thing I want to do is pull a hole in the bottom of my boat LOL. Any suggestions?
Deitz Dittrich
are you putting a new ducer in?.. can you just put it beside the othe ducers that are already there and just leave them in?.. My boat has a ducer that is just epoxied into the hull, and I left it there.as for the question about if you can do it with alum hulls?.. I dont know. Never done it.. i bet steve bakken in the expert info forum could help you out.. look him up.
SpecialK
I just got an OLD fishfinder from My cousin and the instructions for it say you can not use the ducer through hull on an aluminum hull. Granted this finder is OLD so things may have changed.
stmichael
I run the high speed transducer for the FL8 through the Sylvan (Aluminum)
TonkaBass
Vexilar makes a 200 KHz "alumaducer" for mulitple models of sonars that will shoot through an aluminum hull w/o interference
marine_man
I haven't ever mounted the transducer so it shot through the hull in a aluminum boat... but with the exception of the alumaducer I don't believe it's recommended due to the interference and power loss through the aluminum.marine_man
