Fishingminn.com member Free'eye' suggested this recipe. I recently used it on a mess of Lake Michigan smelt and it was pretty good.

Purchase a package of "Golden Dipt" onion ring batter and substitute beer for the water. That's it.

I didn't use "Golden Dipt", but the brand I found worked fine. Thanks Free'eye'
