Rainy Lake

Recommended Posts

Alright, what's the deal with the secrecy of Rainy for Muskies? I have heard very general, very basic, very hushed information on where they might be located. Either this is a solid fishery that people want to keep quiet(which I certainly cannot fault anyone for), or else there aren't too many fish out there and people do not catch enough to talk about? So what's the deal? I am going to head up there this weekend and check it out myself because this is "bothering" me , but if anyone else has any thoughts please post smile.gif

There are only certain sections of Rainy that are worth targeting for ski's. Mostly on the Canadian side (Seine Bay I believe). I was planning on fishing them up there last year when I was up, but was told that it wasn't really worth it. If you are looking for more info than that, talk to Dave Peterson aka FISHMIESTER on the Rainly lake forum. He doesn't fish for them, but can offer more info than I can.

Never fished Rainy. But Red Gut Bay is an area that I've always heard mentioned when it comes to muskies. What I've heard from several reliable sources is that while Rainy certainly has a fishable musky population in places, there are definitely much better options when it comes to big fish.
