Info on a Bronson 63 rod/reel combo

Twitter

Question

Is anyone familiar with an old rod/reel combo called a Bronson 63 ??

When they were made, etc.

Both the rod and reel are labeled with this.
The rod looks to be some type of wood composite and the reel is integrated into the rod and does not come off. It's a 6.5' two piece rod with a very whippy action.
I guess I'd call it a baitcaster, with the button on top of the reel but it's part of the rod handle.
It has a cork handle and even a zipper case that's labeled as a Bronson 63....made in U.S.A.

A friend of mine at work just got it from his mother who had it for years. It originally belonged to his Grandfather.
It's in almost brand new condition.

I told him it's a wallhanger, especially due to the sentimental value.

Anyone have any information I can relay to him ??

Thanks !

ST,
He took a few pics that I can send you if you'd like.
I have no way of posting them though.
Send me an email and I'll reply with the pics.

Try doing a search on using what info you have or try "antique fishing tackle".

I remember them - in fact I used 1 or 2 and am guessing they are early-mid 1960's vintage. True Temper manufactured a similar product and may have even bought out this line from Bronson.
