I was at my in-laws place yesterday on a metro lake fishing for carp off the dock and relaxing with a book and a beer when my line took off. I set my beer and my book down and set the hook into what I expected to be a carp. It turned out to be a 24" walleye who must have thought my oatmeal ball was too good to pass up. Never in a million years did I expect to get walleye on a dough ball but I guess I have a new bait to try on opener when nothing else is working!!

The next cast I ended up getting a carp that was an inch bigger than the walleye so dough balls still work for them too! Just thought I would share in case anyone is wondering how to get those finicky walleyes to bite this time of year!
