Bluebird house ?

Rivernut

Recommended Posts

Tree timmers nknocked down a bird house that had newly hatched Bluebirds in it. The babies are at the bottom of the house, nest is up against the wall. I do know that human scent on bird eggs can turn the adults away. Does anyone have any suggestions, other than letting nature take its course. By the way, the mother has still been going in and out.THANKS.

Rivernut,

This is what our Ornithologist (person who studies birds) said to do:

Human scent on birds does NOT turn the adults away--that's in baby mammals

like rabbits and squirrels. THe best thing to do is to secure the nest

somewhere as close to the original site as possible. If the parents are

still going in and out, everything may turn out perfectly okay unless one

or more of the babies sustained internal injuries in the fall.
