Wiskers
I use shrimp all the time.. I get mine from the grocery store.. the big gray raw shrimp. The orange cooked ones do not work as well.
nitefisher
try the either small smelt or the large smelt that you can cut up, they work real well speically when they have sat out a while.
HuskerBen
I've used shrimp quite a bit. It seems to work best when it's been sitting out for quite a while. If you put a bunch of raw shrimp in a ziplock bag, and leave it out in the hot sun for a day, it gets pretty rank and works better (in my experience) than fresh. It will also stink up your truck pretty good, and it doesn't go away for quite a while. So be careful.Ben
BlackwaterStout
Before I started taking catfishing seriously I used shrimp for bait all the time. I'd buy the raw 30-40 count shrimp from the grocery store. Kinda small sized and fairly cheap. It always produced pretty well. Never caught any monsters on it but lots of 4-6 pound channels on it. I remember the first time I bought it at the store and I asked the lady for a dozen pieces of shrimp. I told her I was going fishing. I think it came to about $2.00 or so. She said man, thats expensive fish bait. I just laughed and informed her that a dozen pieces of shrimp cost less than a dozen crawlers or a dozen fathead minnows
