0 Seabass77
I use 10 fireline, an egg sinker (weight depends on depth, current, how fast I am moving - Usually start with 1/4 or 1/2 oz), swivel, and then I attach a florocarbon leader with either a plain hook, painted hook, or phelps float/gumball float. If I am jigging and missing light strikes, I will sometimes switch to this system and us a short 12" - 24" leader, open my bail and keep the line pinched between my finger and rod, once I feel the bite, I let go. The egg sinker drops to the bottom and line will feed throught the sinker, hopefully un-beknown to the fish. I wait a few seconds and set the hook.I a more traditional approach, I look at my graph and see how far the fish are off the bottom. I adjust the length of my snell/leader accordingly.
