After I kill off this last month of ice fishing, I was looking for jobs to do. I've saved pictures from the internet of things I want to make as opposed to purchase. One thing I've had on my list for a while has been a layout blind. I'd love to make something like a coffin style folding layout blind. Maybe I'm asking too much, but something where you could maybe take PVC and sew fabric around it. It would be lightweight and you could switch between different camouflage. Like cornfield, woven grass, snow camo, whatever. If no one has tried it or has anyrecommendations, I could wing it, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
Also, anyone have any other DIY ideas for things they really don't want to purchase or would rather use a personal touch on? A few of my own (not many my original ideas by the way): pull behind auger holder, nice wooden rod holder, structure on a string, goose silhouttes, "ice well", antique lure wooden velvet padded display case, camo motor cover, pop up boat blind, wading staff, wind activated mojo duck, ice rod caddy, contemporary/folk art style spear decoys.
Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe. I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho. Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
The water looked and smelled disgusting with hundreds of thousands of birds sh*tting in there. About as gross as the Salton Sea. When I duck hunted there I didn't even want to touch the water.
It's kinda gross with the algae in the summer but I got in it anyway. Wanted to see the increased bouyancy at work. You can kinda tuck yourself into a ball and you'll just float with your head above water. When dry off you look diamond encrusted with the salt.
We went to the flats too. I dipped a tire on the rental car onto it just to say I’ve been there, but it was still pretty soft from winter melt. After seeing some moron in a BMW suv get dragged out of the muck I had no intention of repeating his stupidity.
