Coyote Question

Austin

Recommended Posts

I'm kind of new to coyote hunting and need a little help. OK I've been sitting out call from like 4PM to when it's to dark to see and I call but don't get much in response. But, I know they are there cause it seems as soon as I get to the house they start howling maybe a half mile away from me (in the same section). I've been using a primos Mini Mag howler and a Primos Ki-Yi distress call. The wind has also been in the right direction. It was blowing to the north and the coyotes have been howling to the south of me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

They have you pegged. Somehow you have been spotted, and you need to switch things up dramatically. The most common thing that happens is that the 'yote spots you heading to your stand - you need to plan a new approach and a new stand. Since they have no doubt connected your calls with you, its time to go to Plan B - maybe woodpecker or cat distress. An educated and on guard coyote is one tough customer to hunt. You may end up having to spot and stalk or plan an ambush.
