I have had my jiffy 3hp model 30 for over ten years now and it has worked great, great augur but a little heavy to carry around. I guess it all depends on what type of fishing you do. If you do a lot of hole hoping, the jiffy is not what your looking for but if you don't drill too many holes or are fishing out of perm. fish house it is a excelent choice. The jiffy can open up old holes as some other can't.

You're where I was about 4-5 years ago. Just a hand auger and a bucket. Now I have a house, power auger, Vex, and all the other extras you can imagine. I know what you mean when you say you've "been sucked in." smile.gif

I'm sure you'll get a lot of responses from Jiffy people, Strikemaster people and some Eskimos and Nils thrown in there as well. I think they are all decent companies and all of them are better than a hand auger. I, myself, have a Strikemaster Lazer Mag Express and couldn't be more happier with it. My dad has a newer Jiffy and my uncle and his friend have an older Jiffy and I've used them all. The older models are very heavy compared to the newer Jiffy and mine. The newer Jiffy runs exactly like mine---haven't had any problems starting or running. The older ones seem to bog a lot or are a little more touchy on the throttle. What I like about Strikemaster is that I can drive right down Hwy 10 and be at the service center and they take care of things. I had my starting cord tear off at the end this year and the people at Strikemaster replaced the cord and fixed the problem inside the housing that was causing the problem, all for no charge and while I waited! If you live around the Big Lake area, that might be something to think about. But like I said, I think they are all good companies and out of those 4 companies no one is going to intentionally sell you a lemon.

I Got a Mag2000 ... good solid auger not real heavy and fast enough for me with the chipper blade on it ... The chipper blades last longer but cut a little slower ... was right around the 200 mark on sale ...Have been very happy with it and it gets the job done !!!
