2 yrs ago, I ran a 11 3/4 X 12 prop which came with my boat. Boat would plane out great, but top end speed was only 30 with me solo and 26-27 with gear and a buddy or 2. I noticed I was over the recommended RPM of 5800. I was around 5900/6000 RPM's.
I got a 11 X 15 prop and it lowered the RPM to where it should be, top end speed is 35 with me solo and 30 with gear and a few buddies. However, it planes out REAL slow. This prop turns the boat better too.
This 11X15 is considered a speed prop where as the other prop is considered standard. From my understanding, the standard prop is better for tubing, etc....I have not tried the speed prop for tubing, but can tell it won't do the job becuaseit planes out real slow. I rarely tube with the family and fish 80% of the time solo.
What prop would you stay with and or recommend? These are Michigan Match props.
Wasn't terrible at a state park beach. Antelope island maybe. I wouldn't recommend it as a beach destination tho. Figured I was there, I'm getting in it.
The water looked and smelled disgusting with hundreds of thousands of birds sh*tting in there. About as gross as the Salton Sea. When I duck hunted there I didn't even want to touch the water.
It's kinda gross with the algae in the summer but I got in it anyway. Wanted to see the increased bouyancy at work. You can kinda tuck yourself into a ball and you'll just float with your head above water. When dry off you look diamond encrusted with the salt.
We went to the flats too. I dipped a tire on the rental car onto it just to say I’ve been there, but it was still pretty soft from winter melt. After seeing some moron in a BMW suv get dragged out of the muck I had no intention of repeating his stupidity.
