The LX-5 unit is the very best flasher I have ever used when it comes to fishing gills in heavy weed cover. Face it, if your a bluegill fisherman you "live by the weeds". From my experience in Michigan and NY you will notice when vegetation starts to break down and disperse these particles and dead plant life fall that create a matted ceiling anywhere from the floor to 1' and 1' 1/2 off the lake floor that no... I mean no flasher could ever give you a reading on until now. I played around with the LX-5 with the 8 deg. and superfineline quite a bit the other day. In just these situations the definition and "punch through power" beyond the mat was incredible. There's no doubt that the LX-5's ability to read gills in heavy cover is an essential must have for tournament fishing. I wish everyone could afford an LX-5 because it's truly the finest unit in the industry for technology, versatility and excitement. I proved the LX-3 ice system was an all over best value compared to the competition. But this LX-5 could very well be the stuff that legends are made of. MarCum has brought so much to the table since it's inception and I am very pleased to be an owner of three LX-3's, a LX-5 and an LXi Performance Pack. I only ask MarCum one thing., and that is to give us guys a break and sit on these for a while I think your entire sonar line is as close to perfect as can possibly be...
