Some of you may have seen a post about a problem I had encountered with a Nils Master auger first trip out. I was pretty disappointed in the product. Well after I posted my disappointment and discribed the problem, Paul Waldowski contacted and suggested a solution. Seems the new batch of Tanaka power heads have extremely high tolerances on these high performance engines. New NM also has a new power-point cutting head. First trip out auger went into ice 2 inches and stopped. Wouldn't go any further. Don't know how many others expereinced same problem, but Rick had same problem. Seems the new motor really needs to be broken in with running for a couple hours. Took it out again and I couldn't believe how quick this thing cuts. It is like a hot knife through a butter stick. That auger literally pulls itself into the ice and I mean right now!! I drilled 40 holes through 8 inches of ice in less than 5 minutes. It is also really light and easy to operate. No pushing down on this auger. The engine reminds me of the high performance airplane engines I use in my radio contolled airplanes. The really good expensive engines will not run very well out of the box either. They generally need a couple hours run time before they run decent and then they just keep gaining power with more use. This is exactly what I have heard about the Tanaka motors. Hat's off to JP at Nils , Rick P. from FM and Paul W. staff from FM. These guys just proved that they stand behind the products they promote. They offered a full refund if I wasn't satisfied, course I think I'll pass on the refund. LOL

I got to play with the new nils auger today out on the ice. I thought "aw what a cute little auger with it's little power head and green and red little blades" Proved me wrong, THAT THING HAS GOT SOME SNORT! I was impressed with the Lbs to horse power ratio of that tiny little engine.
