Transducer Pain?

Two short true stories here that got me wondering:

This last summer I was out on the boat and noticed that the transducer, which is mounted to the transom on out boat, was not reading accurately. So with the locator still on, I went to adjust its position on the bracket with my hand. Once I reached under it, it shot a sharp pain through my wrist and hand. I immediately took my hand out of the water and wondered what the heck is going on. My curiosity was able to convince me to try it again - and again pain.

Last night my girlfriend and I were looking at the LX-5 at a store. I turned the switch on to give her a little demonstration on how the thing works. I then picked up the transducer to tell about how that works. I pointed it in different directions to show her how the tapping sound travels. At one point I went past her ankle. She immediately asked me to stop and said she had pain in her ankle.

Has anybody else experienced this?

Anybody have answers to this?

I thought it was kind of cool, but unexplainable.
