ageshop
Just starting ice fishing this year with my son. I would like to know where there are good fishing lakes in the north metro area... Ham lake and Anoka area.
tunrevir
There are some good panfish lakes in the area. One of the most consistent producers in my neck of the woods for panfish is Green near chisago. Coon is good for crappies and pike and Martin has been known to produce some fish as well. The Chisago area has alot of options for ice fishing. Forest Lake is a decent winter destination as well. Depends on the type of fish you want to go after. With a little one, I like Green L because you can get bit pretty quickly and consistently. Not huge pannies, but catch and sort for a meal. (9" minimum on crappies), bass bite readily on waxies, Pike cruise the shallows and walleyes can be had in the low light periods. Check the Glyers bay area. 5-7' water is good starting point.Tunrevir~
LOW_Hunter_11
If you want to tip up fish go to sunrise in lindstrom it is a farmer that does the access and you have to pay $10 to get on there. But the kid will have the best ice fishing of his life. On a great day there we will have 30+ flags go up.On a bad day we will have 15. Are smallest northern we have caught is 28 and the largest 38. THe biggest bass is 7 lbs. and the right next two us caught a 20 lb northern. Plus there is a spot on the lake were there is a perch hole. We caught are limit of perch is less than a half hour it was just awsome fishing. and on the other side of the lake it is full of panfish fishers were they do pretty good to. They also through up tipups over there but i dont thnk they do as well.Brandon
