Huskiedevle
I did a search here on downviewing, and read several threads and posts from many of you. My question is how can I rig up my old style Aquaview camera to do this?I have the old style rubber housing cameras set up(Mc2x). Any suggestions? The camera itself points straight down the hole,is that correct? Is there some kind of fin available for old Aquaview cameras to do this- similar to what I read is available for the newer Marcum units.
Jim Hudson
HuskieYour camera should have came with a clear plastic fin, as part of the package? This fin/rudder fixs to the rear portion of the camera housing... and cut into the rear portion of this fin is a place to push the camera cord into... this will point the camera down for downviewing... And yup, the camera faces down as you lower it into the hole to your preferred depth. usually I set my camera about 3 to 5 feet above where I plan to fish my lure. If your set-up did not come with this fin, contact Aqua Vu and get one. Not only is it good for downviewing, but it helps keep the camera straight during open water scouting while using the trolling motor. Also, another handy piece of equipment for this application, is a downviewing bracket, made by the Clam Corporation. It was made for Fish Trap shelters, but a person could rig up something similar to fit other ice shelters also. The bracket affixes to the housing that holds your screen, where you slide the bracket and housing into a slot (that is pre-made into Fish Traps/or a bracket you make for a different style shelter). The camera sits between your legs as you jig and watch your lure, making it much more easier to stay focused on your jigging technique and stay in tune with what the fish want. Rather than having to look over to the side and what not. Pretty handy!!
