We are heading up to Leech or Cass on Thursday for three days of muskie fishing. Neither one of us going have really done a fall muskie trip before and were looking for some advice. What kind of structure and depths should we be looking for and what kind of pattern should we be trying?(casting/trolling/lures) Thanks in advance for any help.

For Leech look to the mid lake humps, rock reefs and sucken islands. The fish will most likely be found along side or on top of this structure foraging for fatty baitfish like ciscoes, and white fish. "Match the Hatch", try slow moving glide baits that have a whitefish pattern such as phantoms, majic makers, sliders and of course the staple of any musky box; the bulldawg. If the wind is up on the main lake (Leech) hunker in Walker bay and start tossing the rocky shoreline and mid lake (bay) reefs. A very effective bait for a late fall presentation on the rocky shore is the classic jig-n-tail trick. Flip it up to shore and hop it back to the boat. Good luck chasing down some of those big fat fall fish!
