Recharging a deep cycle?

Recommended Posts

A 2 amp charger on a dead marine battery... how many amp hours is the battery rated at? If this is a large deep cycle (120 Ah+) it could take nearly 3 days or more if its larger.

Put it on an automatic charger designed for marine batteries. There will be very little current until the battery has some juice(up to voltage), then the amperage will increase.. not to mention it will stop on its own when it is fully charged.

There is no way to tell with a trickle(low amp) charger what the status of your charge is.. you literally have to pull the charger off, let the battery settle for a while, and put a battery energy guage on the battery to get a moderately accurate reading. Do not put a charger on it and assume you have fully charged the battery. Its a real good way to under, or overcharge your batteries.. not good for them, either way.

Please buy a real charger or you will pay for it in the near future with new battery purchase.
