bmc2b
I have a Lowrance LMS 332c that I got for my boat last spring. I read an article that TFT screens can be used in cold weather as opposed to the old LCD on older grafts, and now have seen a soft ice pack available for using it on ice. Does anyone have any experience with TFT's or 332c on ice? Thanks.
hanson
Was that the article in Walleye Insider?
bmc2b
Yes, it was that article. They show a 330, which is the earlier version of my 332.
federline
I use a Lowrance x67c summer and winter, which is the same TFT Active Matrix (there's nothing special about the Ice Machine TFT). I used it outside and inside the ice house, down to 0 degress, it never slowed down like an LCD does in the cold. I didn't have a graph and my old flasher died, so I bought the Ice Machine and a high-speed transducer for the boat. It's been fun using the same unit year-round, it's pretty versatile. (Just wish I had sprung for the m68c with GPS!) The one thing to look out for, tho, is to not store it in cold below 0 deg, thats when the fluid in the TFT will start to freeze if left overnight and your display will be ruined if that happens - this applies to the LMS332c as well.Good Luck. slick814
The TFT on the M68C never froze up for me at all either. Down to about -15 or so. Loved having it as my bow mounted sonar this summer. Great to be able to put it to use in all seasons. If there's a way to use your 3323 on ice, I'd say give it a shot. The worst that you would have happen is the screen slows down and you put it back in the truck. If it has a TFT, you should be fine as frog's hair. Federline - I love having the GPS function on the M68C, just wish it had more detail on the GPS maps. Lakes pretty much show up as blue areas, no depth contours, etc. and I haven't found a way to upgrade the mapping. Still gets me where I want to be, though, and that's the big thing after all. Well worth the extra $$.
