Public around Moorhead

Recommended Posts

I don't know of any right around moorhead but if you head NE near Hawley, Lake Park, Hitterdal area you will find some decent public land, the only thing is that a lot of people know about some of it, so do your scouting and maybe you will find some in the middle of "no where". And there are plenty of birds in the area.

When I lived in Moorhead I had some of the best hunting spots with very little competition. There is a lot of public land in Clay County and nearby Becker and Otter Tail counties. You may have to drive 25+ miles but the hunting was usually worth it. There were obvious lakes to hunt and several small wetlands that required some work to get to. Buy a MN Gazeteer and scope out some spots on a nice afternoon. wink.gif

Hey Nephen, I have a Minnesota Gazzeteer that shows us all public lands i use it especially for pheasant hunting, and cirlce each spot that i have found birds, Its a nice map to have, and very helpful if you keep track of all of the spts that you get birds, after a period of time, you will find out that some spots are alot more concentrated than others, I will take a look for you, Give me a call!!
