Waconia...

Due to the PMTT taking over Lake Minnetonka next weekend I was thinking of heading over to Waconia for some muskie fishing. I have never fished this lake before, but have heard great things. Would anyone be willing to share some info to help steer me in the right direction? What type of structure should I focus on? How should I position my boat? What lures/colors seem to produce? I have heard that the island and the reefs are good places to start. Thanks for any help you can give!!

just fished it tonite and had one come out of the water after the lure, the head was above the back of the boat, but the reel jammed before i could give him a little line.couple of good tail whips and off he swam.

That was on the back side of the island in about five feet of water, saw a guy catch one off the dock on the south side of the lake just west of the beach, they are in there but who the heck know's what they will go after from day to day.

All i can say is fish them where you would normally fish them on other lakes and hope you picked the right spot. good luck and if you find a pair of oakley sunglasses floating out there let me know??

Cupper - Just an FYI, but the PMTT tournament is set up so that they cannot fish north of country road 15 - which basically cuts the lake into north and south - nor some of the smaller bay's like Alban's and Gray's among others so a lot of water will be off limits to them. I saw this at their official HSOforum.

I'm wondering if they do this so judge boats can get to the fish/boat quickly.

I have heard that the beach area on Waconia has been a popular place for the 'skis this year.
