bmc
Hey W.W.I was on call all this weekend so all I could do was stop in at the landing and be envious of everyone who got out. 38 rigs at the landing on Saturday at about 12:30 and I go there today at 1:00 and no one around. The water level is low, at the bottom of the cement landing pad. The few guys I talked to said it wasn't too bad getting around with a regular boat motor. A buddy and I will probably be there either Monday or Tuesday, maybe both. I've got a blue/gray Dodge Dakota and an Otter Stealth 1200 that's grassed up. Give a shout out if we're at the landing at the same time. Oh yeah, no rice on the lake this year at all. Hope this helps. From what the DNR guy said, a good variety of birds with mainly mallards, bw teal, and ringies making up a majority of the bag limits.Brian

bmc
It was too nice of a day to be in the duck blind and the end results showed it. My buddy shot 1 mallard and that was it. I never even pulled the trigger. I was pretty disgusted to say the least, especially since it was my "opener". We redeemed ourselves this morning though with 3 mallys, a gw teal, and a rinbill. We hunted a different lake this morning. Should of easily had 8 birds but our shooting was rusty. How about you guys?Brian

bmc
Hey snowgoose, Mike works for the county on the east end. I run into him every so often. What's your last name, I don't think I know you, do I? Yeah esox that's what I thought too. I went back to the landing at 1 pm on Sunday, no one around and birds were flying....go figure. Maybe everyone shot their limits and left? WalleyeWeasel
We got our 4 geese and a hen gadwall. Broke a shear pin, had to row Did see a small flock of reds tho... We got to the landing at 4:00 some fellas were heading out said they were going to go shoot their 10 apiece geese limit on the reservation (west end) ??? I thought the whole area was reservation ?? bmc
Man you guys are hardcore to sit all day, it looked like you guys had more birds working your area then we did. That was probably my buddy you talked to, in a old red ford F-150? They didn't make it out as the shoreline on that end is gooey mud out from the reeds 30-40 yards, no cover to hide in. A hen gaddy, that's pretty cool, I think they're few and far between around here.Brian
WalleyeWeasel
That was your buddy then. Did you see a goose fall?? Man, chased that one forever. Could hardly keep up with it (rowing). Was almost worried about the unnattended decoy law...LOL. The dog was useless. Was pretty rusty on the shooting that's for sure. Had fun though and hadn't seen my buddy since high school. Will be up again towards end of the month......might hunt Leech for a day !!
bmc
LOL, yeah we were paddling back to the landing and saw that goose headed you're direction, we both said, "that thing'stoast" and sure enough BOOM and down it went. After it went down, we heard you guys shooting and new it was a cripple, glad you guys got it though. Leech would be fun, never tried it though.Brian
