My First Muskie...

My first ever! What an amazing day on the lake!! I went out on my buddy's boat and we did not have a tape measure between the two of us... hopefully, someone on the board here who is experienced could give me their best guess as to how long she was? I had my Rapala digital scale with me and she weighed in at 17lbs. 4oz. I know she didn't have much of a girth... but she's my first Muskie and now I am hooked! I caught her on a Joe Bucher's SlopMaster Buzzbait...

I kinda used this photograph to judge the length of her. The top of her bottom lip was equal to the base of my nose.. heh heh... and her tail went down by my kneecap. I'd say somewhere in between 40in. - 45in? Although, I know that's a fairly rough estimate. *shrug* Still a fun day on the lake.

I had my buddy hold her so I could photograph her, as well. I wanted to insure he was using my camera properly and I made sure to zoom in on the detail of her. After a few photographs, we released her back into the water where she had no problem getting as fast away from us as possible. heh heh... here's the other photograph of my buddy holding her:

And prior to the Muskie... I managed to get this Northern. Again, no tape measure but she weighed in at 7lbs. 10oz.

Nice fish Zoku. I would think mid 40s is about right given the weight and "skininess". Catching your first musky on a topwater is just about as good as it gets.
